  • 6 Tips On Creating A Beautiful Space

What makes a room interesting? The people who live there of course, that is what makes a home come to life. The photography in a picture frame or a personal book sitting on a coffee table that one is reading. Those are the great conversation pieces within my home.

If there’s something I could tell you about myself it would be this: one of the things I have always enjoyed most has been decorating. I love the coastal style with a mixture of country living. My dreams are to someday design and build my own home from the ground up. My home scent will be a scent of masculine mixture of cedar wood and amber wood. That is my perfect outlook and vision of designing my home.
As of today, I’m planning around my dream. I would like to think that I have an eye for matching items that mesh and decorating my entertainment center has been a great start. I purchased my center at a bargain price of 50.00 and the rest as they say is history. I can’t imagine a better place to display collections you love then around a big entertainment center. The space reflects your passions, interests, and hobbies. Mine is coastal décor but not just any ole shell or beach item. I seriously have to be in love with it. I am not one to have a compulsive buying strict. I have to think about it and walk away from it. It has to settle within. In fact, that is a good first tip for you.
    1. Don’t be a compulsive buyer. Just because you see, something on sale doesn’t mean it’s a fit for your home. Chances are a month later it will be in a garage sale or pushed away in clutter.

These shells are all unique, they are all real coral and not bought in all one place. It took time for me to find those special pieces and it was well worth the wait.

    2. DO invest in your favorite books to display. Some of my most favorite are from where I have travelled too. My son loves weather. So picking up something he can learn from is an investment in itself. In addition, it goes with my coastal vibe I have going on. I have displayed a collection of past hurricanes that have hit the gulf coast. It keeps it interesting and forever evolving.

    3. Push books to the very back of your center and then create a look by layering from high to low heights.

    4. Light it up! I can’t tell you how romantic, soft and cozy it is to have your most favorite items lite up. My entertainment center did not come with built-in lights. However, I purchased touch lights and mounded them inside. I also added string lights inside my candleholders and added a garland with lights on the very top of my entertainment center. It has given it the extra touch it needs around my most favorite pieces. My son jokingly says it’s Christmas all the time and I’m ok with that! The garland I used below is above my center. You can’t even tell it’s Christmas garland but the lights shine just right to give each piece the right enough light to show off.

    5. Turn your books backwards where the paper is facing. It really gives your space a more clean and chic look.

    6. Do decorate with accessories! I love glass jars but to jazz them up a bit more use some of your jewelry. This shell necklace my uncle gave me from Hawaii goes perfect with my coastal decor.

Every single item that you see in this post has a meaning behind them. From the smallest of trinkets to the large sailboat. Two of my most favorite are the petrified wood my dad cut in half to make bookends and the large starfish that my dad gave my mom in the early 1980s when they were dating. The crystal cross will always be special to me. Most have also been given to me as gifts from some of my closest  friends.

I would love to hear what your style is or how you decorate a room?! Please leave me a comment below to share!
