  • How Much Dog Do You Need For Your Health

One of the greatest supports on my path towards healing is Newnan. Newnan has been with me for a little over a year now and it was love at first sight! Through thick and thin, happiness and heartbreak, he has been by my side. I don’t know what it is, but Newnan clings to me. It’s like Newnan knows I need him. Do you ever feel that way about your pet? As if they know something is wrong.

There are numerous ways dogs contribute to our health. They are remarkable in helping to relieve anxiety and stress because when a dog is in your life there is always a reason to smile. Sometimes, when I’m crying Newnan is close by me and looking at me with those big human eyes that say, “I love you and will be by your side”.

I know everyone thinks their dog is the best (and they are all right, as they should) but Newnan is something special. Coming home to that wagging curly tail and his smile is sometimes the best medicine in my life. Never underestimate the power of a sloppy kiss and a wet nose greeting you at your doorstep. There are dark, dark weeks ahead of me, learning how to live without my mom, and even trying to hold my head up when my feet hit the floor, but I know with the help of Newnan and the memories he has given me with my mom will be able to lift depression and relieve anxiety. Some angles choose fur over wings and Newnan is my furry angel.

The healing power of a dog is real! Newnan will forever be my blogger sidekick. So don’t be surprised if you see us around town, at the dog park or even in our church directory (ha!) We are inseparable! Love is a four legged word and you too can find this love. I also want to stress the importance of adoption!
