  • Paradise Roads Featured In Lake Charles Lagniappe

I had a huge honor to publish an article in our local Lagniappe magazine this month. Here is it is on Paradise Roads!
    Best Wishes,
    Kacie

I believe a huge fashion wave has blown through SWLA .However, we southern girls never lose our roots. I believe Louisiana folks like to spend as much time outdoors as possible, so for me, I dress chic and casual on most days. I don’t think anywhere else in the country you can put on a floral dress paired with a denim jacket and cowboy boots and transition it throughout your day from dawn to dust. You might have a baby shower to attend around brunch and an afternoon baseball game at McNeese. This can followed by checking out the local band at Rikenjaks that night, all while sporting the exact same outfit. Please tell me anywhere else you can do this? It’s our culture. Simplifying things make us happy. If you hop on any of the local fashionista Instagram pages, you can see a rustic pattern throughout their feeds. Now, I know if you’re not from SWLA you might imagine that we can’t post pictures without a double-barreled shotgun or a black lab in our feeds. But to me it’s just the opposite of how the fashion bug has hit through our city. I picture our town like one big festival all year long with girls wearing beautiful wide-brim hats. A local rustic wedding venue can intertwine cowboy boots with vintage jewelry. We are truly known as having the Sportsman’s Paradise. The Lake Area is always popping by the downtown seawall. It is a great opportunity to showcase a great outfit. (Spend a day at the seawall, then go to dinner at Lunas and catch a play at the civic center) Not only is SWLA known as the Sportsman’s’ Paradise and for the lifestyle that goes along with it, but our landscape provides endless possibilities. Whether you are a wedding photographer, a lifestyle photographer, or even a local influencer on social media, you have the chance to shoot great background shots. SWLA has such a diverse look that it matches the beauty in any other picturesque town in the United States. However, if you find yourself in SWLA, you can dial back the make-up and hair. And speaking of hair that is one thing I love so much on our local influencers feeds. You can see so many cute messy buns, a great wavy hair vlog or beautiful beach waves, which help someone like me, combat those days when the humidity is high – which is most days! On any given Sunday, you can look in the closet of most SWLA girls. You’re likely to find a pair (or two) of fashionable waterproof boots. As you never know what our weather will bring from one minute to the next. I actually love the concept that most of the clothes we display are functional and useful. Some even have bling and a slight wedge heel…for those of us who like to ass a little height to our stature. From our muddy crawfish fields and the beautiful banks of the Calcasieu River to the beaches along Lake Charles and our famous Golden Nugget, our diverse fashion can go anywhere, from the chiming of the slot machines to fine dining to nightlife on the deck overlooking the Lake Charles.
