  • Your Basic Yoga Fitness In Minutes (1of3)

    Maybe it’s the routine of getting back to school, or maybe it’s the effect of the Fall like weather approaching us, or maybe it’s just me feeling like my chin and butt, are starting to eat the rest of my body, but I’m determined to start working on myself!

    So I’m starting with yoga! However, there has been a lot of discussion about yoga through my circle of friends. Such as yoga is ‘becoming one with yourself’ and that some people believe yoga to be ungodly.


    Or questions around yoga being a form of Scientology related.

    Scientology? Really?

    If anyone knows more about yoga, please chime in and start a discussion with me, I would love to know more about this ever revolving movement.

    In the meantime, this is how and where I practice yoga…

    I think yoga allows you to pause, to meditate, to stretch, to think, to breathe and to be whatever your little heart desires. And somewhere along those lines , yoga is becoming therapeutic for me mentally and spiritually.

    Try 15 minutes out of your day to sit in the middle of your mat, either outside under a peaceful oak tree, amongst a gentle shore line, or even the inside of your livingroom with pillows and blankets.

    Or maybe you need just 3 minutes to chill. Take three clean breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth.

    Notice how you feel? Your state of mind, your emotions and your thoughts.

    Maybe this is a time to say your rosary, to pray or to just be in the moment to feel lifted, to feel lighter.

    After you meditate, (for however long you need) start the stretching process. Start with easy poses, (I have to start ease) then advance if needed.

    To me, yoga is all about breathing. Inhale and exhale. Slowly! This is what I love about yoga. I love how it’s all on your time or how you can share the moment with a friend. Have fun with it!

    Most importantly don’t rush yourself. Absorb every moment. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t hit a stretch or pose. This is YOUR time. No make up. No social media. No Judgements. This was why it was so important for me to take these pictures with no make up contouring. No fabulous hair style or braid. No fancy fashionable outfit. Just me working on myself.
