Lymphedema is a very serious condition. My mother has Lymphedema in her lower right leg from cancer. You know all those side effects that you have to deal with, as cancer isn’tenough. However, Lymphedema controls my mother’s life. This year, I’m determine to help control her Lymphedema back to some sort of normalcy.
You see, Lymphedema is all she thinks, talks, and complains about. Well, ok, not going to fib, one of many things she complains about. I know this is because she can physically see what is going on with her body, but Lymphedema brings on the worst complaints in the complaining department.
This year, I’m bring you everything you need to know about Lymphedema and what has/hasn’t helped with our (her) condition. I would like to share the places we have went, things to know, and special compression therapy that might be just what you are looking for if you suffer from Lymphedema.
Believe me when I say, I have seen it all when it comes to Lymphedema. I have watched my mother strap on a Lymphedema machine daily. I have witness the cracking of her skin from the fluid. I have watched her suffer from the pain.
What caused her lymphedema? When the ovarian cancer was at its worst 3 years ago, her doctor removed everything she could see from the cancer. Unfortunately, because cancer was on a major lymph node it had to remove by her pelvic. To be more pacific it was the lower right leg, which affected the fluid to start Lymphedema process to form.
First off, what exactly is Lymphedema?
Lymphedema is a chronic (long-term) condition in which excess fluid (lymph) collects in tissues causing edema (swelling).
